How To Ace An Interview

Sam: We know interviews can be very stressful.

Lisa: But if you keep these tips in mind, you’ll ace the interview.

Sam: Half the battle is to get the interviewer to like you. So a friendly, confident demeanor will get you there faster. Make sure you’re sending out the right signals from the start. Look them in the eye, have a confident handshake, and smile. Make sure you look like you want to be there.

Lisa: While a job interview is your opportunity to showcase your skills, resist the urge to oversell yourself. Be honest and confident. Talk about your strengths, and achievements, but don’t brag. Just stick to the facts.

Sam: It’s important to stay focused during the interview, and make sure you’re actively listening to what is being said and asked. This means to concentrate on what is being said, think about it, and then respond to the best of your understanding.

Lisa: Even if you’re well prepared, a tricky question might come up that will throw you. You don’t have to immediately jump in with an answer. Take your time, take a breath, and answer the question. If you need clarification, ask for it rather than providing a confusing answer.

Sam: Honesty is important and you might be having some problems in your current role, but refrain from talking negatively about your manager or that company. It only reflects badly on you. Employers want to know that you can work well with other people and handle conflict in a mature way.

Lisa: Thank them at the end and ask, if there anything I haven’t covered today or given you enough detail about? This gives you the opportunity to clarify any lingering queries and gives you one last chance to show that you’re the perfect person for the job.

Sam: With these tips, you should be all set for your next interview.
